PRIMEX celebrated its 17 years of contribution to Asia's regional development by bringing together its Board of Directors, pioneering consultants, management and staff in a simple yet symbolic dinner program held at the company's office.
Senior Vice-President (Finance) Ma. Lourdes Sumilang welcomed some 30 guests composed of the Board of Directors, consultants and representatives from the firm’s ongoing projects.
Sumilang also introduced the new chair of PRIMEX Board of Directors, Dr Jerome F. Sison, who succeeded Jose P. Leviste Jr. last April. Leviste is the new President and CEO of the country’s leading energy producer, Mirant Philippines Corporation.
A showcase of PRIMEX talents greeted the guests during a short program hosted by Technical Services specialist Joy Pavico and Nestor Escara of the Fisheries Resource Management Project (FRMP) before the dinner. Elvira C. Ablaza, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), led the ceremonial wine toast.
Seventeen (17) candles were lit by selected PRIMEX ‘pioneers’ during the invocation to symbolize its many years of journey. A Powerpoint presentation also recounted the transformation of PRIMEX management including its office and staff through the years.
Sison, in his message, cited the culture of professionalism, dedication, quality of service and hardwork within PRIMEX as the key values that propelled the company to achieve its top position in the industry today.
Since its foundation in 1989, PRIMEX has implemented a total of 136 multi-million projects in the Asia-Pacific region, and are currently implementing 14 of them, either as lead implementing firm or an associate. The Asian Development Bank had ranked PRIMEX second top Filipino firm involved in implementing its development projects in Asia.
Admiration for the staff
Sison, who recently assumed the post from former chair Jose Leviste II, commended the former leader as well as the present President and Elvira C. Ablaza "for having demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to the company and its thrusts" which have also been imbibed by the staff.
“I also commend the staff for being able to react to a positive stimulus (from their top bosses) and for maintaining a high level of effort in undertaking all the responsibilities, which are heavy ones- like meeting deadlines, maintaining quality of work, and working with people under pressure. I admire the staff for your loyalty to the company,” Sison said.
