Ms Elvira Ablaza, PRIMEX CEO, and Ms. Ma. Lourdes (Baby) Sumilang, Sr Vice President, attended the 7th International CEO Conference organized by the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP), of which Ms Ablaza is a member.

The Conference, held at the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-la on 7-8 October 2008, featured an impressive list of speakers led by Mr. Michel Camdessus, former Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Honorary Governor of the Banque de France, who delivered the keynote address.

Other notable speakers included Mr. Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala II, Chair and CEO of Ayala Corporation; Mr. Jose L. Cuisia, Jr., President and CEO of Philamlife; Dato Paduka Timothy Ong, Chair of Asia Inc. Forum; and Mr. Harinder Kohli, Chief Executive of the Emerging Markets Forum and President and CEO of the Centennial Group of India.

The session moderators were prominent news personalities from ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel, led by Ms. Maria Ressa. The other moderators were Ms. Twink Macaraig, Mr. Ricky Carandang, and Mr. Manolo Quezon.

The Conference brought expertise and experience together in a forum that explored innovative strategies for value maximization in a world that is becoming increasingly complex and uncertain. Ms Ablaza said its holding could not have been better timed as it was convened days after the US government announced plans for a multibillion dollar bailout of large banks and financial institutions in what was the start of an unfolding global financial crisis.

The MAP CEO Conference Committee was chaired by Mr. Roberto de Ocampo, former Finance Secretary.
