Training of Facilitators participants, ThailandPRIMEX President and Chief Executive Officer Elvira C. Ablaza joined 23 other facilitation experts from Asia-Pacific countries in learning new practices in project design and management held in Hua Hin, Thailand from 11-18 June 2008.

The Training of Facilitators on Results-based Project Design and Management was an intensive, eight-day course delivered by a team of trainors and facilitators from ADB led by Andrea Iffland, Principal Project Management Specialist.

Organized and conducted by ADB as part of a regional technical assistance for Results-Focused Project Design and Management, the training course aimed to help ADB's developing member countries (DMCs) develop the necessary skills to build results-based management into the design and execution of development projects.

The training course was built around the skills and competencies needed for participatory planning and decision-making in the context of a multi-stakeholder program or project.  It consisted of lectures on the process of participatory project design and implementation, followed by hands-on practice and role playing sessions on the application of the process using case studies based on actual ADB projects.

In addition to the acquisition of facilitation skills, Ablaza said the training workshop presented an excellent networking opportunity as the participants included ADB staff from the headquarters and resident missions (Indonesia, Vietnam, Uzbekistan); government planners from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Laos, and Vietnam; the private sector (academe and consulting firms in the Philippines, Laos, and Thailand); and four staff of  the Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a recently established US government agency involved in development work in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
