The PRIMEX Consultant Team implementing ADB’s regional knowledge management project (RETA 7307) for countries in the Coral Triangle (CT6) has begun the process of gathering information related to the knowledge management (KM) needs and priorities of concerned nations while exploring areas for technical assistance.

As of this writing, in-country needs assessment workshops have been held in the three CTI Southeast Asian countries, and preparations are underway for the the three CTI Pacific countries. The Philippines was first on the list, with the workshop held at the Lancaster Hotel in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila on 27 August 2010, back-to-back with the Philippine National CTI Coordination Committee (NCC)-organized Workshop on the Implementation of the CTI National Plan of Action (NPOA).

Malaysia was second, with two formal meetings with the Malaysia NCC, the first held on 20 September 2010 with the Kuala Lumpur-based NCC members and the second held the following day with the Sabah-based NCC members at in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.
The needs assessment for Indonesia consisted of two formal meetings with the Indonesia NCC and several one-on-one meetings with selected officials and staff of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF), the institutional Chair of the INO NCC from 23-24 September 2010.

Dates have already been pinned down for the Solomon Islands (3-5 November 2010), although confirmation needs to be secured for Timor Leste and Papua New Guinea. (Arvin Yana/PRIMEX News)
