PRIMEX’s Angelito N. Corpuz  is the Social and Resettlement Specialist of a team of consultants that are currently designing a project aimed at improving the ability of communities in Cambodia to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the negative impact of floods and droughts.

The ADB project preparation technical assistance for  the Greater Mekong Subregion Flood and Drought Risk Management and Mitigation Project (RETA 6456) will (i) identify and prioritize flood and drought issues regionally within the Lower Mekong Basin (LMB) and within in each country through regional and national road maps developed to improve flood and drought risk management, (ii) develop a prioritized program of structural and nonstructural flood and drought risk mitigation interventions in each country, and (iii) prepare feasibility studies for proposed investment projects in Cambodia on the basis of the national roadmaps.

Mr.  Corpuz's roles in this TA are to (i) develop social “effectiveness” indices for the various general categories of FRM and DRM measures. (ii) analyze in detail the social feasibility of the identified interventions, as required for ADB financing; and (iii) undertake social analyses according to ADB guidelines and policies, and assess project risks and mitigation strategies, among others.

The project started in March 2009 and will end in September 2010. (Arvin Yana /PRIMEX)
