Indonesia has established a national secretariat for the implementation of the World Health Organization (WHO)’s International Health Regulations (IHR) of 2005 (IHR-2005). The Secretariat, established within the office of the Directorate General for Communicable Diseases and Environmental Health, is staffed by two consultants and an administrative assistant.
The said document will be used in the orientation of, and consultations with, the various offices under the Indonesian Ministry of Health (MOH).
IHR-2005 was unanimously adopted on 23 May 2005 by the World Health Assembly and entered into force last 15 June 2007 for all member states. Its broadened purpose and scope are to "prevent, protect against, control and provide a public health response to the international spread of disease and which avoid unnecessary interference with international traffic and trade."
