Ninety representatives from 20 Bukidnon municipalities, the Provincial Government of Bukidnon, DENR, ADB, and other stakeholders have been invited to attend the Inception Workshop of the ADB Capacity Development Technical Assistance for Decentralized Framework for Sustainable Natural Resources and Rural Infrastructure Management (TA-7716-PHI) to be held in Malaybalay, Bukidnon on 15 September 2011.

Discussion on the map

The project aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of staff of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), local government units (LGUs), and communities regarding sustainable watershed, environmental, and rural infrastructure management as well as diversifying livelihood options.

The Inception Workshop will formally launch the TA in the presence of senior officials and concerned staff of ADB, DENR (central and regional), and the provincial LGUs. Other key stakeholders including local academic institutions, NGOs, and community representatives will participate in the discussions.

The workshop will also present the highlights of the Consultant’s Inception Report and serve as a forum for sharing information on the current status of watershed management in Bukidnon. Participants will also identify specific activities that could be implemented under the TA.

Participants
Three representatives per municipality -- Municipal/City Mayor, Municipal/City Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO/CENRO), and Municipal/City Development and Planning Officer) – are expected to attend the workshop together with representatives of the Bukidnon Provincial Government and DENR. ADB will be represented by Ms. Syarifah Aman-Wooster (Senior Social Development Specialist and Project Task Manager), Mr. Pavit Ramachandran (Environment Specialist), and Ms. Geraldine Reside (Assistant Project Analyst). The PRIMEX-ARMDEV Consultant Team will be led by Ms. Elvira Ablaza, PRIMEX President/CEO and TA Project Director, and Dr. Manuel Bonita, Team Leader/Watershed Management Specialist.
