PRIMEX's programs and activities related to training, organizational development, and capability-building have now been organized under one unit - a move that promises more diversified and customized services for the company's increasing number of training clients.

The new Training Services unit will be operating with manager, Ms Josefina Ferriols-Pavico, at the helm.

"Since training has been one of our areas of expertise, we aim to be more responsive to the needs of today's industry by offering learning programs tailored to the organizational objectives of our clients," said Ms. Elvira Ablaza, PRIMEX President and CEO.

For almost two decades now, PRIMEX has organized and managed a large number of training programs/courses, both as independent activities and as core strategies of its different projects, in different sectors for a wide range of clientele – from senior government officials at the national and local government levels to small fishers, farmers, and rural community members.

Among the most recent technical training programs that PRIMEX implemented were on HIV awareness and prevention; epidemiological surveillance and response, Avian Influenza and dengue preparedness and prevention; coastal resource management (CRM); fishery law enforcement, legislation, regulation and licensing; strengthening skills and competencies of trainers; project management and service management training; professional skills courses; gender and development; workshop organization; and communication skills.

PRIMEX has repackaged and updated its extensive portfolio of training programs to specifically offer HIV awareness, Gender and Development, and English Communication Training, among others.

"Training is an important investment and we want to make sure that our clients, irrespective of the nature of their organizations and projects, get the most from that investment," Ms. Ablaza said.

The new unit brings PRIMEX's operational units to three – with the already established Technical Services and Business Development headed by Senior Manager Leo R. Pura and the Finance and Administration Services headed by Senior Manager Yolanda L. Francisco.

Meanwhile, the operation of the Technical Services unit has lately been reinforced with the return of Ms. Therese Yaptenco-Loyloy to her former position of Manager for Technical Services and Business Development.  (Arvin Yana /PRIMEX)
