The consulting consortium, Groupe Huit Consultants (France) in association with PRIMEX and Strategic Consultancy Company Ltd. (Viet Nam), recently signed a contract with ADB to prepare the design of the Comprehensive Socioeconomic Urban Development Project in the provinces of Viet Tri, Hung Yen, and Dong Dang in Viet Nam (TA 7516-VIE).

The TA, which commenced on 1 October 2010, will design the proposed investment project in line with Viet Nam's Socio-Economic Development Plan, 2006-2010, which envisions Viet Nam’s achieving industrialized country status by 2020. The project seeks to transform Viet Nam's transport corridors into full-fledged economic corridors, as identified in ADB's Regional Cooperation Strategy and Program for Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) (2009-2011) and confirmed during the 15th Ministerial Meeting of the GMS Economic Cooperation Program.

ADB's Country Strategy and Program (CSP) for Viet Nam for 2007-2010 emphasizes the need to target infrastructure investments in small and medium-sized cities, particularly those along the GMS economic corridors.

The PRIMEX consultants in the PPTA team are: Mr. Senen R. Ricasio, Economist; Dr. Ramon P. Abracosa, International Environment Specialist; and Mr. Leonardo M. Rodaje, Procurement Specialist. (Arvin Yana/PRIMEX News)
