Members of the Philippine CTI National Coordinating Committee (NCC) took part in a financial planning exercise organized by ADB RETA 7307, which allowed them to realistically cost their National Plan of Action (NPOA) and sustainably finance their initiatives.

The Philippine NCC Sustainable Financing Workshop: Costing the NPOA was held from 31 January – 1 February 2011 at Richmonde Hotel in Pasig City. The activity produced the following outputs: (i) realistic cost estimates for the five NPOA goals for the Philippines; (ii) agreement on alternative modes of generating funding; and (iii) an enhanced appreciation of sustainable financing.

The RETA earlier committed to organize this session with the Philippine NCC and its Technical Working Groups (TWGs) through the development of a practice template that would allow a generic costing for each of the five goals of the Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI): seascapes, ecosystem approach to fisheries management (EAFM), marine protected areas (MPAs), climate change adaptation, and species conservation.
