PRIMEX successfully conducted a Project Scoping, Visioning, and Teambuilding (PSVT) Workshop under its recently acquired ADB-funded Regional Cooperation on Knowledge Management, Policy, and Institutional Support to the Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) (RETA 7307) in Jakarta, Indonesia last 20-21 May 2010. The consulting services contract for project management was awarded by ADB to PRIMEX in April 2010, and the consultant team was mobilized on 5 May 2010.
The Workshop, which was held back-to-back with the CTI Regional Priorities Coordination Workshop,
had 42 participants composed of representatives of the national coordination committees (NCCs) of the CT6 countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Solomon Islands), development partners (AusAID, USAID, NOAA, CI, TNC, WWF), ADB, and the consultants. The Workshop was primarily aimed at helping the consultants and their counterparts attain a clear understanding of the Project goals, objectives, strategies, and interventions, and achieve a common understanding of the Project scope and requirements and agree on Project targets and milestones, work priorities, scheduling, and task assignments that will serve as the basis for the detailed Work Plan to be finalized after the Workshop for inclusion in the PRIMEX Inception Report.
The Workshop was formally opened by Mr. Bob Finlayson, OIC of the ADB Indonesia Resident Mission, and consisted of plenary and three working group sessions that discussed regional cooperation, knowledge management and learning mechanisms, and sustainable financing and payment for environmental services (PES).
RETA 7307 aims to promote regional cooperation, policy dialogue, and coordination among the six countries in the Coral Triangle region (CT6) in support of the Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI), a program aimed at safeguarding the CT region’s marine and coastal biological resources for the sustainable growth and prosperity of current and future generations. ADB awarded the contract for its implementation to PRIMEX last April 2010 after an international competitive bidding process.
The PRIMEX consultant team is composed of the following specialists: Dr. Gary A. Vigers (Team Leader and Regional Cooperation and Marine Management Specialist), Ms. Annabelle Cruz-Trinidad (Deputy Team Leader/Environmental Economics and PES Specialist), Dr. Edgardo D.
