Former PRIMEX Board Treasurer and Executive Vice-President Dr Jerome F. Sison assumed the chairmanship of the company’s Board of Directors following the resignation of chair Jose Leviste Jr.
Leviste, who has led PRIMEX since its incorporation in 1989, is the new President and CEO of the Philippines’ top energy producer, Mirant Philippines Corporation (Read related story). The Board endorsed and approved Sison’s succession at a meeting last April.
At PRIMEX’s 17th anniversary program, Dr Sison commended Leviste’s great contribution to the company and “for making PRIMEX recognized in the international arena.”
“Mr Leviste will always be the Chairman to me,” said Sison. “He’s always with us… guiding us and helping us in always making PRIMEX a better consulting firm.
Dr Sison has been with PRIMEX since 1993 starting as a team leader of a project evaluation consulting team for an Asian Development Bank-funded project. He has since been involved in a total of 53 projects managed by project and mostly financed by ADB. Among the latest projects he led was the Integrated Coastal Fisheries and Resources Management Project in Indonesia.
He is an economist and financial analyst with extensive experience in the planning, design, and evaluation of development projects across sectors, particularly agriculture, fisheries and coastal resource management, and irrigation and water management.
Before joining PRIMEX, Dr Sison was Associate Professor at the Agricultural Economics Department, College of Economics and Management, University of Los Baños and Executive Director of its Center for Policy and Development Studies (CPDS). He holds a Ph D degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada and an MS in Agricultural Economics and a BS in Agriculture (major in Agribusiness), both from UPLB.
