Operational plans from each department of PRIMEX were presented, discussed, and consolidated at a strategic planning and team-building workshop organized for the management and personnel last September 2-3 in Dacha, Tagaytay City.
The activity, attended by PRIMEX executives, managers and staff, also culminated in a clearer delineation of functions among office departments, staff complement and formulation of mechanisms to ensure quality control and productivity.
In a Powerpoint presentation, the Technical Services department, headed by Department Manager Therese Yaptenco, identified weekly staff meeting, task delegation, meticulous counterchecking of documents, implementation of cost-cutting measures, development of internal capacity for technical writing, conduct of seminar on project management cycle and strategic selection of consultants for proposals prepared as major steps to enhance its operation.
Technical Services Specialist Arvin Yana also suggested the management of website, production of marketing collaterals and publications, and liaison with various prospective clients to enhance the business development agenda of the company.
PRIMEX operates under three departments: Technical Services, Finance and Administration, and Project Support.
The Business Development team, which is merged with the Technical Services department, was guided by the projections presented by the Finance and Administration department headed by Department Manager Dennis Bantegui.
Senior Vice President Ma. Lourdes Sumilang reminded the participants to “align their operations” with the company’s vision of becoming “a premier full-service international consulting company headquartered in Manila with project offices in selected Asia-Pacific cities providing world-class advisory, technical, management, and financial services across sectors and disciplines rendered according to the highest standard of professional excellence.”
Dr. Jerome F. Sison, Chairman, added that given the increasing competitiveness within the consulting industry and the external and internal factors that affect PRIMEx’s performance, it is important that the workshop provide measures for dealing with these in order to ensure the company’s long-term sustainability.
President and CEO Elvira Ablaza stressed that a bigger challenge for PRIMEX is on how to maintain its position as a premier international consulting firm. “We are faced with the changing trends in the consulting industry including the emergence of new firms, and change in priority investments of our clients,” said Ablaza. “Our operations should always be in consideration of these realities.” (ADY)
