EDCOP, PRIMEX, and PTTC awarded with P7.6M aerotropolis project in Gen San

gensanThe Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) awarded the Engineering and Development Corporation of the Philippines (EDCOP) in association with Phillip’s Technical Consultants Corporation (PTCC) and PRIMEX a PhP 7.6-million contract to conduct a Study on the Development of General Santos City Aerotropolis.

The study, which will be conducted from March to August 2013, is an important milestone for PRIMEX as it is the company’s first aerotropolis contract. The Philippines has yet to construct its first aerotropolis, and this project will pave the way for this development which aims to attract aviation-linked businesses from nearby provinces to General Santos City. The aerotropolis will also allow distant travellers and locals to conduct business, shop, eat, sleep, and entertain without going more than 15 minutes from the airport.

PRIMEX President and CEO Ms. Elvira Ablaza welcomed the project, which is a solid addition to the company’s transportation and engineering portfolio.

“This aerotropolis project is historical for us because it is our first time to undertake this kind of assignment. Infrastructure is one of our emerging sectors and our extensive experience in implementing foreign-assisted and technology-based projects in the Philippines and overseas will be advantageous in this case,” she said.

In the past 23 years, PRIMEX has successfully completed several projects related to the road and transport sector in the Asia-Pacific region, including Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

The consultant team from EDCOP, PTTC, and PRIMEX will provide logistics services, plan, and design the supply chain management for the study on the aerotropolis. Three PRIMEX consultants will be part of the consultant team. They are Dickton Rye (Land Use Planner), Candido Valdez (Architect), and Lester Valdes (Logistic and Business Specialist).
